This Week in Miami Sports: The World Baseball Classic Makes a Stop at Marlins Park; The Miami Heat’s Unbelievable Win Streak

Marlins Park was ready for the arrival of the Italian, Puerto Rican, Dominican. and American National Baseball teams. Six Games will be played in Miami.

This week is a big one for baseball in Miami. The 2nd round of the World Baseball Classic is being held at Marlins Park in the heart of Miami. This round will feature a double-elimination format.

A total of six games will be played at the venue, with the last game being played on Saturday. Four of these games of been completed. In the first game, the Dominican Republic defeated Italy a score of 5-4. The second game had a score of 7-1 with the United States defeating Puerto Rico. Yesterday, both facing elimination with another loss, Italy and Puerto Rico faced off. The Italians held the lead for most of the game, but in the end the Puerto Ricans got the better hand and defeated the Italian team 4-3. Italy is the first team to be eliminated in the Miami pool.

Today the United States and Dominican Republic played. Both teams are favorites and have legitimate chances of winning it all. The Dominican Republic came out the winner of the game by a score of 3-1 and guarantee themselves a spot in the final round held in San Francisco, where the Japanese and Dutch teams are waiting to see which two teams they will face.  The United States will face Puerto Rico for a second time tomorrow to fight for the final available spot in the final round.

The final WBC game in Miami will feature the two teams moving on to the final round and it will determine seeding for the final round. The winner will face the Netherlands, while the loser faces the two-time defending WBC Champions, Japan.Image

LeBron James going up for a dunk in last night’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers. The win puts the Miami Heat at 20 wins in a row.

The Miami Heat have done it once again. They have extended their record-breaking winning streak to 20 games, the longest in Heat franchise history. The first part of the streak was behind the play of LeBron James. Lately, Dwyane Wade has stepped and been leading the team to these wins. The Heat beat their rival, the Indiana Pacers for the first time this season in their final meeting of the regular season this past Sunday to clinch their 18th straight win. The Heat received their 19th and 20th wins of the streak by defeating the Atlanta Hawks and the Philadelphia 76ers, respectively. The Heat’s next 9 games are as follows:
