It’s that time of year again. It’s the time when bad teams try to acquire a player that has the potential to turn their organization around, and when good teams try to fill the holes in their team left by free agency. The NFL Draft is unpredictable; there have been too many draft busts and late round steals over the years. This year, the draft class is relatively weak compared to previous years, but some players still show promise. The offensive line class is particularly good, while the defensive line and cornerback class are also decent. Geno Smith seems to be the only reliable quarterback in this year’s draft, but which team will take him? Let’s analyze each team’s needs in this year’s draft:
1. Chiefs Luke Joeckel OT
Luke Joeckel is without a doubt the best offensive tackle in this year’s draft class. This doesn’t happen often, but this lineman could take the Kansas City offense to the next level.
2. Jaguars Eric Fisher OT
The Jaguars’ offensive line is terrible. Eric Fisher would be a great fit.
3. Oakland Sharrif Floyd DT
Oakland has too many needs to count, but one of them is defensive tackle, as their best two DT’s left during the offseason. Sharrif Floyd is a high level defensive tackle who would be a good fit.
4. Eagles Jonathan Cooper OG
The Eagles’ offensive line play is atrocious. Cooper is a high level guard who could help, if coached correctly.
5. Lions Dee Milliner CB
The Lions need a cornerback to help their failing defense, and who could be a better pick than Dee Milliner.
6. Browns Cordarelle Patterson WR
The Browns have way too many draft needs, but we narrowed it down to wide receiver. Cordarelle Patterson fits. He even sounds like Browns player.
7. Cardinals Lane Johnson OT
The Cardinals offensive line is just as bad as the Eagles. Lane Johnson is the next best lineman.
8. Bills Geno Smith QB
The Bills need a stable quarterback. Geno Smith could give them just that.
9. Jets Dion Jordan DE
The Jets have a problem with their weak pass rush, which could be solved with Dion Jordan.
10. Titans Star Lotulelei DT
The Titans need a good defensive tackle, and Lotulelei is the next best thing to Floyd.
11. Chargers Jarvis Jones OLB
The Chargers have a serious need at linebacker, more so than any other position.
12. Dolphins DJ Fluker OT
As Jake Long left to the Rams, the Dolphins need to fill the hole. DJ Fluker could be a reliable option.
13. Jets Matt Barkley QB
With their pick acquired from the Bucs in return for Darrelle Revis, we could see the Jets “genious” front office picking Barkley over Manuel or Nassib.
14. Panthers Sheldon Richardson DT
Pass rush and run defense are an area of need, which could both be solved with Sheldon Richardson.
15. Saints Ziggy Ansah DE
The Saints are seriously lacking in their pass rush, and who’s a better pick than Ziggy Ansah?
16. Rams Tavon Austin WR
They need to fill the hole left by Danny Amendola with another small receiver.
17. Steelers Bjoern Werner DE
Out with James Harrison, in with Bjoern Werner.
18. Cowboys Kenny Vaccaro SS
The Cowboys’ safety play is horrible. Vaccaro could seriously help this team.
19. Giants Alec Ogletree ILB
If the Giants can handle his off the field issues, then he’ll be a reliable option.
20. Bears Manti Te’o ILB
Although a risky pick, they need to fill the hole left by Brian Urlacher with another good pass defending MLB.
21. Bengals Matt Elam SS
Matt Elam could help this struggling secondary, only if he’s coached right.
22. Rams Eric Reid FS
The Rams are struggling at the safety position, which is why Eric Reid could be a perfect fit.
23. Vikings Xavier Rhodes CB
The Vikings fill the hole left by Antoine Winfield with another great cornerback.
24. Colts Datone Jones DE
As Dwight Freeney struggles to search for a job, the Colts will replace him with Datone Jones.
25. Vikings Barkevious Mingo OLB
The Vikings could spend heir next pick again on their defense, this time keying in on the linebacker position.
26. Packers Desmond Trufant CB
Trufant should help the Packers’ struggling secondary and make the team forget all about Woodson.
27. Texans Jamar Taylor CB
The Texans got Ed Reed. Now with Jamar Taylor, this defense could finally be a force to be reckoned with.
28. Broncos Cornellius Carradine DE
With Dummervil leaving due to the Fax machine incident, the Broncos need a replacement.
29. Patriots Jonathan Banks CB
The Patriots never select receivers in the first round, and they ned to beef up their secondary. They should select Banks ahead of Hayden because of Hayden’s heart issues.
30. Falcons DJ Hayden CB
Filling the hole left by Brent Grimes.
31. 49ers Jonathan Cyprien SS
The 49ers need a good safety, having lost Dashon Goldson. They could also toy around with this pick in other ways.
32. Ravens Keenan Allen WR
The absense of Anquan Boldin will have a bigger impact than most think. Keenan Allen is a ig receiver who could fill the role.
